If you double-press the button on your Tile and it does not play a tune, the battery may be dead.
Note: If your Tile is connected to your Life360 app, check that its Press Action is not set to Discreet SOS Alert (2024 models only). This will prevent the Tile from playing a tune when double-pressed.
Only certain Tile models have a replaceable battery.
- For Tiles with non-replaceable batteries, it may be time to order a new device.
- For Tiles with a replaceable battery, follow the instructions below.
Get Started
You will need:
- A new battery.
- Mate (2020 or 2018): CR1632
- Tile Pro (2024, 2022, 2020, 2018): CR2032
- A paper clip or precision screwdriver.
You can purchase these batteries at most convenience stores, or you can order them online from Amazon. We recommend the following brands:
- Panasonic
- Maxell
- EVE
Note: Other battery brands may cause inconsistent performance.
Replace the Battery
Tile Pro (2024)
- Locate the pinhole on the back of the Tile above the battery door.
- Insert the paperclip into the pinhole and press down.
- Once pressed down, slide the battery door off.
- Use the paper clip to remove the old battery.
- Insert the new battery into the battery compartment with the positive (+) side of the battery visible.
- Slide the battery door back on, ensuring it is completely sealed.
- If it is not sealed, it may affect the battery connection and your Tile’s functionality.
Tile Mate (2020 or 2018) and Tile Pro (2022, 2020, or 2018)
- Apply some pressure on the battery door and carefully slide it off.
- Use the paper clip to remove the old battery.
- Insert the new battery into the battery compartment with the positive (+) side of the battery visible.
- Close the battery door, ensuring it is completely sealed.
- If it is not sealed, it may affect the battery connection and your Tile’s functionality.
Test the New Battery
In the Tile app:
- Tap on the Tile that you replaced the battery in.
- Tap on Find. The Tile should ring to show a successful connection.
In the Life360 app:
- Tap on the keys icon at the bottom of the map.
- Tap on the Tile that you replaced the battery in.
- Tap on Find. The Tile should ring to show a successful connection.

Remove the Low Battery App Banner
- Open the Tile app.
- Tap on the Tile that you replaced the battery in.
- Tap on the Time to replace the battery banner at the top of the screen.
- Tap on I've Replaced this Battery.
Recycle the old battery
Help us eliminate excess waste and keep batteries out of landfills by recycling your outdated unit at your local e-waste center. Some participating retail locations near you may also have e-recycling centers.

- Open the Tile app.
- Tap on the Settings icon at the top right corner of the screen.
- Scroll down to and tap on Recycle Tiles.
- Tap on View Locations.
- Select a location.
- Tap on Directions to open your device’s map app.
