When your Jiobit leaves a Trusted Place or Bluetooth connection, it immediately starts to scan for a cellular signal it can connect to. If the Jiobit is in a poor coverage area—or something is interfering with the signal to the device—it will need to work a lot harder to establish its location.
If your battery seems to be draining faster than usual, here’s what we recommend:
1. Avoid leaving the Jiobit in Live Mode
Live Mode is intended for streaming real-time location updates while the Jiobit is on the move. It uses a significant amount of power as it captures real-time location over a cellular network. If you don’t need to see step-by-step progress of the Jiobit, switch off Live Mode— you’ll still get updates within 0-50 ft of the Jiobit’s last known location.
2. Add Trusted Places and Care Team Members
Adding Trusted Places and Care Team members helps your Jiobit make an energy-saving Wi-Fi Bluetooth connection. When your Jiobit finds itself within the Trusted Place boundary or within Bluetooth range of a Care Team member, it will stop scanning for a signal and go into power save mode.
3. Protect the Jiobit from the cold
Regular exposure to temperatures under 20°F impacts the battery life of most of your favorite gadgets. If the Jiobit needs to track outside in cold weather for extended periods of time, make sure it’s inside of a pocket or has some additional insulation.
Remember— your Jiobit receives regular software upgrades that improve the battery life with each upgrade. With responsible Jiobit habits, you should expect the battery life to last at least one week.
